Microwave Oven Case Study [ppt]
Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic energy, like light waves or radio waves. Microwaves are used extensively in communications. Such as to relay long-distance telephone signals, television programs and computer information across the earth or to a satellite in space. Microwave has become most familiar as the energy source for cooking food.
A microwave oven, or a microwave, is a kitchen appliance that cooks or heats food by dielectric heating. This is accomplished by using microwave radiation to heat water and other polarized molecules within the food. This excitation is fairly uniform, leading to food being adequately heated throughout (except in thick objects), a feature not seen in any other heating technique.
Basic microwave ovens heat food quickly and efficiently, but do not brown or bake food in the way conventional ovens do. This makes them unsuitable for cooking certain foods, or to achieve certain effects. Additional kinds of heat sources can be added to microwave packaging, or into combination microwave ovens, to add these additional effects.

- Countertop Microwaves These are among the popular categories of microwave ovens. You can put them on a counter or table and hence, these are named as 'countertop'.
- Convection Microwaves Such microwaves possess the features of standard microwaves and convection ovens. It cooks food quickly and is more expensive.
- Over the Range Microwaves (OTR microwaves) Also called built-in microwaves, these can be installed over a cook top. You may also need to use exhaust fan or chimney hood along with over the range microwaves.
- Convection and Grill These are convection microwaves with grill.
Advantage of Microwave Oven :- Easy to use for a modern life and save time
